Valheim Abysmal Harpoon Weapon Guide

Did you know you can go harpooning enemies in Valheim? Well, now you do. It feels like every time we turn around, there's a brand new item or recipe to be discovered that we never knew existed. Talk about replay value, right?

The Abysmal Harpoon is one such example. We've broken down everything there is to know about it, below.

Valheim Abysmal Harpoon

This is a crafted one-handed spear weapon that unlocks once players pick up its key ingredient: Chitin from Abysmal Barnacles in the Ocean biome. Players can find sources of barnacles hitching a ride on Leviathans—don't worry, they're gentle giants.

Abysmal Barnacles can only be gathered via mining with a pickaxe. Be careful, though. Every hit carries the chance that the Leviathan will attempt to flee by submerging itself underwater. Each one typically rewards 3-4 pieces of Chitin.

Abysmal Harpoon Recipe

• 8x Fine Wood
• 30x Chitin
• 3x Leather Scraps

The Abysmal Harpoon can be crafted at a level two Workbench. It can't be upgraded, as it likely isn't meant to be a standalone weapon over a tool, but can be repaired. Once crafted, the harpoon will have a base durability of 50 and weight 1.5 units. It has the following stats:

• Piercing Damage: 10
• Stagger: 10
• Knockback: 20
• Backstab Multiplier: x1
• Block Power: 10
• Parry Power: 20
• Parry Multiplier: 2x

Wielding it will cause the player to lose 5% movement speed. However, since the harpoon was made to bring enemies to the player, this likely won't cause much of an issue.
